Dooger’s Seafood & Grill – Long Beach, Washington
Dooger’s Seafood & Grill ~Long Beach is a family seafood restaurant, independently and locally owned by Barry & Barbara Craft. The Crafts have been in the food service industry for more than 35 years and enjoy serving the best quality food to their customers.
The Original Dooger’s restaurant was opened on February 18, 1983 in Seaside Oregon by Doug “Dooger” Wiese and his mother, Mary. There were only 44 seats at the time. Dooger was the head chef, with Mary as his prep cook.
In May of 1983, Oregonian food critic Richard Nelson did a favorable write up of Dooger’s, which was a boon to business. In 1987 the Wiese’s expanded their Seaside location, nearly doubling the seating capacity to approximately 80 diners.
In 1988 Dooger’s lead the pack by making its restaurant completely non-smoking.
Dooger opened a second location in Cannon Beach in 1989. Sadly, this location was closed in 2012.
In 1994, Dooger bought out Mother Mary’s interest in the restaurant. Mary could retire at last!
Dooger’s – Seafood & Grille opened a third location in Long Beach in spring of 1995. Barry and Barbara Craft managed the restaurant for the first ten years of business, then in May of 2005 purchased the Long Beach location from Doug Wise current owner of the Northwest Oregon locations.
Dooger’s Seafood Grill in Warrenton, Oregon, was opened in 2004 on Hwy 101 just west of the Young’s Bay Bridge and is Managed By Brad Campbell.
“I believe the part of the business that gives us the most satisfaction is the fact that we currently employ a number of employees who have been here for over 20 years, and 10 year employees are almost too numerous to count.” Dooger explains. Longevity in staff has been a hallmark of all the Dooger’s locations.
